an unexpected finding (or two)

Guess what I had for dinner! Clue: something fishy.

It's Friday!! I'm quite unsure about the level of excitement I am having right now. No school for the next couple of days, true, but the level of assignments they've set us for the coming week is unbelievable. I have not started on any of them so that really suck! Plus, the packing I'll need to do... urgh. Can't they just give us a break already? Why the influx of assignments due on the very last week? (why am I so dead lazy?)

Let's digress away from the sad stuff. Happy stuff! FOOD! Yummo. My sister was supposed to make a dish with salmon for tonight's dinner but she had to cancel that due to OT. I was so prepared to have it for dinner! It's like my taste buds are all excited and ready to taste the fishy-ness erupting in my mouth but had to disappoint due to the last minute change. You know like how when you expect something for a meal but you didn't get what you want in the end and had the craving for something similar? That's basically how I felt an hour ago.

In an attempt to satisfy my unsatisfied craving, I went to ransack the dried food cabinet and found a long lost instant sauce. Next to it was a packet of unfinished spaghetti. In less than a split second, I decided how I should satisfy myself in the next 30 minutes. I was really glad that preparation took less than 10 minutes and there was no hassle at all! Cook spaghetti till al dente, take it out of the water, mix in the sauce and seaweed (they both came in the packet), wash a couple of lettuce leaves and serve! I just had to take a couple of pictures of the end process, above and the following:

It looks a bit like Chinese noodles doesn't it? Like mushroom and mince pork noodles, or something similar. It's actually Japanese sauce.

MEN-TAI-KO!! Absolute yummo! The base is made of cods' eggs I think. It tastes really fishy, totally fatty and a bit sourish. It has this small balls-y texture because of the cods' eggs. I cringed for a while upon the virgin taste but it gets pretty addictive soon after.

I've been indulging in so much good and fatty food lately! Singapore is going to make me even more horizontally altered, le sigh. I haven't been gym-ing much lately. I was supposed to work-out more on Wednesday but the gym had to close after the pilates class I attended due to electrical failure. & because of that, I was not able to attend the calorie-burning class, Fight Klub!! It's just a fancy name for kick-boxing really.

Speaking of gym, something pretty cool happened on Wednesday. It was after we were told that Fight Klub had to be cancelled (before they told us they had to close the gym). We were asking the trainer about whether we can continue without the lights, air-con and music. The girl who was seated next to me asked me if I were Singaporean upon hearing my accent. So obviously I told her I am Indonesian but is just like a Singaporean and the usual stuff. We started chatting and I found out that she's a Singaporean (she doesn't look like one since she's mixed and she has un-singaporean accent) and studies at LSE!

Not cool enough? Well, today I met her again for Fight Klub and chatted after the session. It was then when I found out that she was from SMSS! COOL or not?!! It's so rare to find SMSS girls in the UK, let alone LSE (the Rs dominates this place). Another cool thing that I found out was... *drum rolls* SHE WAS ONE OF THE MORNING EXERCISE GIRLS! We used to have this morning exercise routine on one of the weekdays (was it Wednesday/ Friday?) and she was one of the demonstrators (alongside Benny and Mr Lee if I'm not wrong, or was it Mdm Rossenah?). No wonder I found that she looks so familiar! (Actually I was thinking whether all the Eurasians have the typical face because they all look pretty much the same- pretty nonetheless, yes pun intended if you didn't get that) She's already in her final year though. Hmm, I wonder if there are other SMSS girls at LSE...

Anyway, I digressed quite a lot didn't I? I've spent so much time typing this out too T_T oh well. It's going to be a busy, busy day tomorrow (onwards)!!

Today was such a gorgeous day! The Sun was up, showering its brilliant rays in every direction. The sky was a clear blue with a couple of jet streams here and there. The trees are shedding their leaves now since it's the early/mid Autumn. I have been feeling slightly déjà vu-ish throughout the day. It felt... complex yet simple. A very contradictory feeling, but it was along the line!

I must say that I prefer Thursday of all the weekdays that I have to go to uni. Pourquoi? (pronounce: por-kwa. It French for "why") Well, it starts with French and ends with French, from 10am to 3pm. The timetable is weird in that sense. Between the 2 French classes, I have an hour of Maths lecture (I often snooze during this period) followed by an hour of Economics. The Economics tutor I was assigned to is so student-like (he is doing PhD). He laughs at his own jokes and is so informal! It's cute in a way and it helps to break the ice between him and the rest of us. My French tutor for the classes is such a cute lady. She reminds me of a ballerina/ salsa dancer somehow. I think it's her posture and how she ties her hair up. These 2 tutors of mine (on Thursdays) are always laughing. I hope that won't stop. It will definitely spoil my Thursdays. :(

The rest of the day was spent trying to get my maths lecture notes printed, but to no avail. I wasted about 50p during the process too. What a bummer. They should station more computers in the Library! & printers + cheaper printing fees/ F.O.C for students will be great. Oh yea, get Windows 7 installed! The computers here aren't even running on Windows Vista, but it's understandable since it's said to have a lot of bugs. SO YES, MORE VALUE FOR MY SCHOOL FEES PLEASEEE! (I hope the rest have similar thoughts as me)

Hmm, the past few days have been pretty so-so. Project Runway Season 6 & Mila have been throwing me with "make it work". :)

I feel like cycling today! & visit the London Aquarium... too bad no one was interested in either. I didn't ask around anyway! (笑)

weird cravings

Grr. The pre-period cravings are not gone yet. Mood-swings are pretty okay this time round but the trade off is the shape of my body, which is already bad enough. At least every half an hour (or even faster than that) I will make my way to the kitchen and look for something to savour. It's so annoying because I will feel like crap after eating. I have to lose weight!

Summer is not helping either. The vibrant colours and floating pollen grains just make my appetite even more generous. Everything looks so edible. From the Sun (reminds me of glazed donuts) to adorable chubby babies (makes me want to bite them), red ribbons (so pretty!) to vanilla cupcakes and macaroons... everything! Eew, a fly just flew past me. Okay, excluding pests. I mean anything pleasant. This sucks. I must, must, exercise! I have to lose weight! (Basically have to be leaner and less flabbier than Shaun heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ♥ -which means hard work)

I've been thinking of which activities I should take part in when Summer holidays officially starts. Hopefully gym-ing and yoga will be part of the main ones. Then of couse there's shopping, reading (I miss this), chillinggggg (is that even an activity), travelling and maybe kendo? Haha the last one can forever be in my dreams. I don't think my dad will let me do kendo. It's financially optional. It would be quite a waste too since I am highly likely to try it only for a very short period of time. I want to try fishing too. It's been ages since I've last fished. Even though the only thing I managed to fish out was a crab. A small one at that. If I am not wrong, someone set it free. I was so pissed. My very first precious catch! It could have become my pet or something. :(

Grahhh before I get carried away, I better focus more on the present. My exams are not over yet. The last paper is going to be on this coming Wednesday. The last paper for Biology, A Level and college life. Wow, I think this is actually the last shot I am going to have at Biology. It was my favourite subject when being a paediatrician was still my aspiration. How time have changed me. How time have changed everyone else as well. I feel all nostalgic now! (and getting myself carried away once more...)

Balancing it.

I am settled with this template... at least for now. I am alright with the previous one but the font was really small and I think it's really important to have a font size that's appropriate and comfortable for the eyes of the readers. Not that I have that many readers, probably not even a handful, but I believe your individual welfare is very important. I don't want to be partially blamed for myopia/ increasing degrees ok!

The colour coordination is pretty screwed up. I feel so sad that I can't sort it out! But ahhhhh whatever, I don't want to get too caught up with that. If I were to be doing this say... 2 years ago I would have died from fussing over this. I used to be a perfectionist back in Secondary school. Hard to believe, I know. I was super duper picky then and would not budge until I got something the way I want it to be. Sadly my imperfectionism didn't apply to my studies. It would have helped me so, so much. Hahaa. I am still quite picky over the minor stuff though. It's really irritating sometimes. Yes! I irritate myself when I am being picky too. You are not the only one.

My inspiration is actually that flower up there. Nude (color) / yellowish-orange shades seem to appeal to me recently. The background used to be gray color, which I found quite boring. Stripes seems to be cute, so that plus yellowish-orange = ta-dahh! I am not sure about the colours still though. I need some comments please! :(

Anyhowww, I actually used my whole day doing thing. What a wasted (holi)day! :(

Metallica concert

Urgh, accounts is getting even more challenging than before :( I can't even get one final answer right for my homework! This is one disadvantage of taking on a speed course for A Levels. There is barely enough time to finish the syllabus properly and all the teachers are basically zooming past all the chapters. I don't even have a proper understanding of what is being taught now... I only have my O level knowledge to rely on. Daydreaming in practically all classes just make things worse too. -_-

Oh well. Anyway next week is Easter break. It's going to be for about 2 weeks, which is on average 2 week shorter than what most schools here in UK have. LSE actually has 5 weeks off for their Easter. Jealous, I am so. I understand why the college decided to only give us with only 2 weeks though. It's basically what I rambled about in the previous paragraph. I have a feeling that this break is going to be wasted as well, just like previous breaks that I had. Remember I always say how I am going to use it to revise school stuff? I never did that. Except for a rare couple of days, or hours even, that's it. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh I've lost my drive and desire. Bad, bad. :/

Okay enough about college stuff. This bit might be interesting: I went to Metallica's concert last Saturday!!! Omg, is that awesome/ shocking/ unexpected or whuddd. It was kind of a spontaneous thing because Shaun and Naz got extra tickets and no one wanted to buy them... so Boobs bought one of the tickets and Shaun kindly offered me the extra one. Naz is the hardcore Metallica fan anyway and Shaun agreed to accompany him to catch the concert once more. Yea that's how hard core he is. Naz went to the same concert twice. Like, whoa.

The concert was rather awesome. It was very eye-opening, metal-ish and freaking loud. It was so loud that when I came out of the stadium, I could barely hear properly. It was as though I lost my sense of hearing after the 1.5 hour long performance. During the concert I actually feared that I might go deaf and had to cover my ears to try and prevent further (temporary) damage to my ear drums. I got it back though, thankfully. Or so I think... hmm.

I find it quite a waste that I only knew 2 songs out of the handful that they played. Nearly everyone were like singing (or rather, screaming) with the lead vocalist. Oh yea, I find that James (lead vocalist, guitarist and band leader) is very charismatic. & the drummer (Lars?) too. They are quite old though.

The weather is getting warmer lately albeit the weird difference in the change of temperature from day to night (think from 16 to 4). It's not that extreme yet but it's really quite troublesome. I have to dress at the right thickness, enough to keep me from being baked by my layers and frozen by the night wind. Oh well. Spring oh springgg, thou make me ponder what I am going to experience this time round.

After studying a teeeeeeeeny weeny bit of human reproduction, it feels quite weird to be doing a unit 3 paper (environment). Okay, maybe a question. It was about desertification and I was writing about fertilising the land to prevent it from happening. & it sort of confuses me... this is how exactly my (okay fine I admit it for this case, HORNY) mind progresses:

Fertilising the soil... hmm (starts to ponder) THEN fertilisation in human? Fusion of gametes? (starts to ponder further) FOLLOWED BY What the shit? SOIL SEX?!

It's really quite entertaining sometimes when I realise how my mind works.

I don't understand why the shoes I want is not on further reductions. Hmm, maybe it's high in demand hence the firm is able to not reduce its price and maximise the revenue it can earn from customers. Howwwww slyyyyyyy of the frenchhhhhhhhhh >:(

headache of tomorrow

Congrats to people who already got offers/ interviews from their desired universities! :D

Last wednesday, I checked my gmail and found that UCAS sent me an email telling me that my status has changed. My heart skipped a beat. Is it an offer/ rejection? From which university? What are they going to expect from me? All sorts of university-related questions started to appear in my mind as I quickly made my way to the UCAS website and logged on to TRACK.

There it was, a conditional offer from Manchester University. It was quite a euphoric moment for me because I was afraid that I wouldn't be getting any offers from any universities... though I know pretty much that only LSE's decision matters. Anyway, to get into Manchester, I have to get minimum AAB, including Maths AND Economics. My confidence for getting at least B for Economics is really low, close to zilch really. But after hearing Sunny's conversation with Mrs Lau about offers, it kind of make me reflect on my reaction about the offer. Her determination is really admirable and somewhat motivating. :)

Today went pretty alright. Someone's Christmas present arrived today! I am feeling excited. Thanks to Viriya who helped! :D Have to get wrapping paper and card to decorate it, along with Shaun and Boobs. Hmm, I don't think the person who is going to receive this will be seeing this post anytime soon. She is busy with some people. ;)

The job of Myoglobin will never stay in my brain. I remember encountering a similar question asking about its function and all I had on the 10 lines given on the question paper was the word Myoglobin. I thought that it'll reflect better on the teacher, telling her that I was actually about to write something but ran out of time (oh, how unfortunate!). It never really worked anyway, I don't think the teacher gave a shit about it. & as for me, I remained the same-- still as clueless and birdbrained on what it does. I hope my attempt in checking it up on Wikipedia will instill some knowledge relating to the thing (how very unbiologist). *crosses fingers*

My weekend was quite a boring one. I wanted to describe it as mundane but thought that it wouldn't fit the adjective because it's not ordinary. It has been ages since I dedicated my weekend on pure homework; no shopping, no long phone calls (not that I do this often), no outdoor activities. I must say that I feel disappointedly productive, as in you know that you are being productive but not at the level of which you are expecting yourself to be producing at. Only managed to clear 0.6 recurring of Accounting paper + C3 Maths + C4 Maths. 1 Biology Unit 2B paper in the middle of completion and 2 practicals waiting for me to touch (due tomorrow) AND NOT TO FORGET! A Unit 3 Biology Mock to study for. All in... let's see... at most 5 hours (assuming that I will be sleeping at 15 minutes to 1). Hmm, I don't think you people care about my homework progress anyway. But I like talking about it because it makes me feel hardworking + smart. Especially after Shuaib hit my head with a THICK stack of paper TWICE on Thursday. Ha, so please excuse me. :D

Oh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, there was something exciting about yesterday! I got to see Shaun for like 15 minutes because he came over to deliver my Accounts file. He could have stayed for a while longer but I thought my sister came home and he had to be a ninja along with Boobs and hide somewhere (I think it's around the staircase outside my unit). It turned out to be my brother. What a waste. But the 15 minutes was just nice I guess. He did come in unnoticed and I wouldn't want him to see things which he's not supposed to see. Nyehehehe ;)

I guess the weekdays were fine. Went to watch Joanne perform (she is in King's College band) on wednesday and had some good time making fun of Wei Yuan for a bit. They are a cute couple! :D Got lectured for coming home past the time which I said I'll be home by, again. I always have issues with time. It's really difficult to fix. :(

Oh. My. Goodness! Today was unbelievably cold. I, who was trying to be a heroine, wore only a wool jumper, (micro)shorts and 100 den stockings. I almost froze to death while walking from the underground station to my house. It seems that this path is the coldest out of my whole journey back from school. It's quite weird because there are more buildings around this area. I wonder why, hmm.

I think I will have to change part of my plan, which is kind of a bummer because I don't know how it's going to turn out. In order to prepare for that, I shall embark on a journey to search for alternatives! There's quite a long list in front of me now after I comfortably sat myself down in front of the laptop and online browsed. It's still in the process of expanding. Spreeing sounds awesome, but I hope I won't overspend. I need to save up for the worlddd (kidding, I meant Christmas) although I am not sure how much I should save up to. Oh well, the more the better I guess. I love it when I realised I have excess money after buying the things on my to-buy list. It's like you feel rich and capable of buying many things, expecially in this economic downturn! Hence, I shall oversave (is there such a word?).

Rachel, if you are reading this please remember to remind me to give you poison. The MSN offline thing isn't working right now. It keeps on rejecting my messages and I am starting to get pissed off.
